A great day in a pretty countryside around Rome. The Castelli romani (roman castles) is a group of little towns very picturesque and fascinating. They are: Castelgandolfo with its summer residence of the pope, Grottaferrata with its Abbey of san Nilo, built in the 9th century, Frascati, Marino. You will stop for lunch at the “Bucci” restaurant at Castelgandolfo, very nice facing the Albano lake, have some wine tasting, as the area is famous for its white wine.

The driver will take you to Tivoli which is 30 minutes drive from Rome. There are two most famous attractions in Tivoli: villa d’Este and Hadrians villa (villa Adriana). The villa of the emperor Hadrian is in the countryside, very quiet and not overcrouded by tourists. In villa d’Este you will admire the frescoes and paintings, then will continue to visit the garden beautifully cool and refreshing, with huge elaborate fountains from the grand “fountain of the dragon” to the hundred of little fountains. You will stop for lunch at the restaurant called “Sibilla”, one of the best in Tivoli.
